Jim Nasium is my pen name, GymArt
is what I call my surreal computer art, please don't get the two
confused...
Jim Nasium is an artist, a poet, a traveler, a lover of life, a coin
collector, a web page designer,
an old fashion concrete and masonry master, a small business owner, a
father of two boys, a brother to one man, and a friend to many.
Jim lives, works, and shows his GymArt
in Galleries and Art Shows in the greater Philadelphia area.
Jim has been painting since he was a child, writing poetry ever since he
could, never did what he was told to do, and was always misunderstood.
Jim has been over heard saying that his secret to success is to break
every rule ya can - never follow guidelines, and never, ever stay within
budget. Jim claims that this will afford a very exciting life.
Jim Nasium is a lifelong Resident of the USA. His home is near
Souff Filly, or South Philadelphia.
He has spent over five years traveling the Andes, and another eighteen
months living in the bush country of Jamaica when he was a much younger
man.
Jim was forced into the concrete trade at fifteen, and has had no
formal art training, but he is a self-educated man: his teacher, a
full and exciting life.
Jim's experiences can be seen in his work: both his art and his writing.
Now that he's semi retired, he spends a lot of time at his desk,
attempting to fulfill a relentless creative passion.
Besides being a graphic artist, he is also a published author, having
written numerous articles on error coin collecting, and he has had
several stories and poems published in alternative magazines, a national
poetry publication, and Philadelphia University's "The University
Reporter."

Jim considers himself one of the forerunners in a new medium, computer
art, and was called "The Master of the Mouse," in a newspaper
article that was in "The Philadelphia Inquire" about a year
ago.
Jim has developed his own style of art that he calls "GymArt®"
and is always using the newest computer art techniques - the mouse and a
digitizer being his only tools to create these surrealistic renditions.
Depending on his mood, he also uses software programs such as
Paintbrush, the old windows 3.11 version,
Adobe Photo Shop, Adobe Elements, Adobe Illustrator, Paint Shop Pro,
Corel Photo Paint, Corel Draw, Xara Webster, Gif Wizard,
GifConstruction32, Neopaint, Grafix, Lathe, Top Draw Poser, Bryce, Ray
Dream, Blender, MORFPro, and many other's in creating his work
Jim calls his work GymArt (it's a
long story). His work is surreal computer art that has been
displayed
on line in The Prodigy Art Gallery, The AOL Members Gallery, The
CSW Cyber Gallery, CreativeStudios Gallery, and in scores of other
cyber art galleries.
Jim's work is also shown annually at the North Penn Arts Alliance
members art show, and is displayed locally in cafe's, offices,
banks, and lobbies.
Jim's work was on display for four months in 2001, in a fine arts
gallery/cafe called 'Sonoma's' On Main St. in Manayunk, Philadelphia.
All of Jim's computer generated, surrealistic art, depicts places he has
been to around the world, which he holds dear in his heart.
His surrealistic creations also touch upon the locations he has somehow
visited in mind or in spirit.
He has many pieces of his artwork on line in his web site, La
Galleria de GymArt, which as of April 2003 has 1260 web pages in it,
written in HTML, JAVA and VRML (virtual reality).
The complete site weighs in at 93 MB's.
