Some People
Some people spend their entire lives in pursuit of a dream
Although most never achieve it
Some people give up
Some people give into the wishes of others
And some people are merely satisfied with less
Crying
There's no place to hide
When the lightning is hurled
God's in his heaven
All that's left of the world
Is crying
Simple Dreams
I was lost then I found you
I never new it could be this way
I showed you my heart
But left it unguarded
Like a thief in the night
You stole it away
Now you're gone
All signs of life going
Time goes on
Simple dreams
All lie broken
65 Roses
Upon learning that my four year old son, Richard, has advanced cystic fibrosis
I was in shock, then I mourned
finally I became furious
and fought back.
Franticly every night I would call every where
looking for help,
there was none.
One night,
after several long and agonizing phone calls
pleading for help,
Richard came into the room
and said
'mommy',
'I know who you work for'
with some trepidation,
I poised the question back to him,
'who, Richard?
'65 roses'
he said with a smile.
I went to him
and tenderly pressed his tiny body
to mine,
so he could not see the tear's
running down my cheeks.
I was amazed,
since I had never told him
that he has advanced liver cancer.
then as I hugged him
I realized,
he couldn't pronounce
cystic fibrosis
now every time for the past 38 years
as I visit Richard,
I smile and cry
as I gaze upon a 7 year olds gravestone
that reads
'65 ROSES'
The Letter Darling, As the last rays of sunshine slowly turn to dusk
I turn on the TV and anxiously await
Trembling, fearfully
I watch for news of the fighting.
I miss you darling,
The love and hate swell inside of me
Why did you volunteer for this war
The images that are broadcasted
Live from the front, are hideous and beautiful at once
Patriot - red, white, blue - things are forever changed
We must protect our most
valuable treasures -
our children.
I hope this letter finds you well and finds you swiftly
Fear not - as I
remain faithful and celibate
In conclusion, darling,
I will continue to pray for your safe return
and anxiously await.
