are illusions from the past
creating nothing but
an inverted objectivity,
surrounded by passion and desire
with warmth, building
to a heated crescendo
of atmospheric proportions.
Optically unreal
without a doubt,
searching for rainbows
and I find myself
chasing mirages.

Upon the streets of life there is deception
for what appears to be, is not real
Crows, spying over concrete fields
searching, swooping for survival
His beady eyes that could not see
amongst the smorgasboard
that lay open for the taking.
Now inside his shell of ragged clothes
is nothing more than straw.
As he trudges along dark alleyways
stopping at doorways to sleep.

fulfill the soul
with flawless love,
so full of depth
a gift of clarity
to be embraced.
False diamonds
become devil's lies
and shallow love,
so empty of truth
a gift of deception
to be refused.
Heart of glass
broken with pain
from abandoned love,
so torn and shattered
a gift abused
to be forgotten.
