The Character Bible

The character bible is where you create fictional characters and provide as much information about them as possible.

The point of this is so that you've got a collection of characters at your disposal to use for your fiction writing.

You should have a separate section for each character - you could even categorize the characters into sections of your choice, like male/female, antagonist/protagonist, hero/villain, key characters/extras, etc.

The more information you provide for a character, the better the story will be.

Information you could provide for each character:

Name, age, birth date, weight, height, hair/eye color, complete physical description, medical description, favorite things, hobbies, talents, dislikes, pet peeves, style of dress, wardrobe items, other items they own or want, hopes and dreams, fears, occupation, habits, eating habits, birth place, place they grew up, place they live now, description of childhood, what their family and friends are like, their beliefs, religion, secrets, fantasies... the sky's the limit: use your imagination.

You could draw a picture of your character, or cut a picture of someone from a magazine that resembles what you envision the character to look like.

You should also make notes along with your character profiles about what type of stories you think the character would be best for.

Keep adding to your Character Bible; build your collection as much as you want.

Perhaps you'll create a character so real and interesting that he or she creates a story all on their own.
